How to read your Meta Ads Manager report in under 5 minutes, without getting lost in 40 columns:
Start with frequency, not ROAS. If frequency is above 4 on your best ad set, everything downstream is about to get worse. Your audience is seeing the same ad for the fourth or fifth time. CPMs climb. CTR drops. Cost per purchase rises. You will blame the creative or the targeting, but the real problem is reach exhaustion. Check frequency first. If it is above 4, you need fresh creative or a broader audience before you touch anything else.
Then look at CPM trend over 7 days. Pull the CPM column, set the date range to the last 7 days, and compare it to the prior 7. Rising CPM with flat CTR means creative fatigue, not a targeting problem. The auction is charging you more to show the same ad to the same people because they have stopped engaging with it. Do not respond by narrowing your audience or swapping interest stacks. Respond by shipping new creative. Two or three new variations in the ad set will usually bring CPM back down within 48 hours.
Then compare cost per add-to-cart against cost per purchase. A growing gap between the two usually points to a checkout or trust issue, not an ads issue. If your cost per add-to-cart is stable but cost per purchase is climbing, the ads are doing their job — they are getting people to the product page and into the cart. The problem is what happens after. Check your shipping costs display, your payment options, your page load speed on mobile, and your reviews section. A broken checkout flow or a missing trust signal will quietly inflate your cost per purchase while your ads look fine.
Everything else — demographics, placements, device breakdown, breakdown by region — matters far less than these three. You can spend 30 minutes analyzing whether iOS or Android performs better, and it will not change your cost per purchase by a single rupee. Arlox.io trains every new strategist to check in this exact order — frequency, then CPM trend, then the add-to-cart to purchase gap — before touching a single setting. Isolate one variable. Read the metric. Make the call. Move on.
